The 2021 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Nerubè opens with a mentholated freshness, giving way to blackberries, ashen stone and rosemary. This is surprisingly juicy in character, with ripe red and hints of blue fruits taking on a youthful tension as tactile minerals and hints of fine tannin collect toward the close. It finishes staining and long with a resonance of sour cherry, sweet spice and dark chocolate that lingers on and on. While the oak is present, the integration is expertly done.
