Tasting Notes
Ripe blackcurrant, sweet strawberry and cranberry aromas, expressive and open aromatically, certainly smells rich and concentrated with a lovely vivid purple colour to the rim. Some inky notes, cool blueberries, iodine and liquorice too. Chewy and so friendly and charming, this is generous in terms of fruit with purity and really lifted acidity but balanced in terms of acidity and fruit. Finessed tannins, not as much weight as usual, but this is approachable. Ageing will soften the edges. I like the definition though, really high definition winemaking here. So focussed, almost razor sharp. Lightly presented, more sour and sherbet like. Fun. 3% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. 35% production. 20% of foudre, 15% new oak, rest in old barrels. 3.50pH. Drinking window: 2029-2040. (Georgina Hindle,decanter.com)
