Tasting Notes

The 2019 Riesling Buntsandstein shows a dense, spicy, almost herbal-scented and iodine-inflected or terroir-driven bouquet of ripe, concentrated and very elegant Riesling berries. Lush and round on the palate and, like the Pinot Noir with more tannins than 2020 and 2021, this is a clear-cut but dense and concentrated dry Riesling that should become more finessed and elegant with bottle age. It is still a tiny bit astringent on the finish. 11.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2022. Drink date: 2028-2040. (Stephan Reinhardt,robertparker.com,Dec. 30, 2022)
