Hospices de Beaune Cuvée Jean-Luc Bissey Échezeaux Grand Cru 2014
$3670.00
Tasting Notes
This vineyard was gifted to Hospices de Beaune in 2011 by Jean-Luc Bissey, whose family has been cultivating vines in the region for four generations and whose father planted the vineyard following his return from the war in 1945. The site is in the climat of Les Échezeaux du Dessus, in the very centre of the Échezeaux vineyard just above Grands Échezeaux. The wine is crafted by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, whose ancestors joined the Marey family in 1852 to create the wines of C. Marey et Comte Liger-Belair. It's expressive and floral, with complex layers of dark fruit, violets and spices. It's also exceedingly rare, with just two barrels produced.
